Angel City FC is already making its mark on communities across Los Angeles ahead of our 2022 inaugural season. Before we’ve even hit the field, we’re able to make a difference through our Angel City Sponsorship Model and the collaborations with sponsors, who are true partners in our quest for equality.
Our latest alliance is no exception. We’re excited to share that Gatorade has joined the ACFC family as a founding partner and the team’s exclusive sports drink partner. Known for fueling the athletes of today and tomorrow, Gatorade is a welcome addition to our partner network’s focus on the future.
When we kick off in Spring 2022 at Banc of California Stadium, fans will see signage from boxes to the stands. Players and staff will also have access to Gatorade during training and on the sidelines. We’re thrilled to garner the support of the Gatorade brand as they continue to prioritize creating an equitable future both on and off the field for women’s sports and female athletes of all ages.
What’s more, 10% of Gatorade’s partnership contribution will be dedicated to creating pathways for female coaches in soccer. Gender inequity in sports has been a systemic problem for far too long. Notably, there have been limited opportunities for women to move into positions of leadership as coaches or mentors. To address this opportunity gap, we’re launching a program with Gatorade that will improve access to training for women to advance their coaching careers in soccer, on and off the pitch. The leaders of tomorrow will learn from coaches, athletes, and female role models who have already begun to pave the way for women in our sport.
The program will also open doors to soccer coaching positions across LA. For too long, there have been too few pathways and prospects for female coaches. Through this joint effort, ACFC and Gatorade look to drive meaningful change today that creates positions, access and networking for girls and women to succeed.
“Angel City is founded on the idea of a more equitable future for all and through this partnership with Gatorade, we will be taking a significant step toward that goal,” said Julie Uhrman, Co-Founder and President of ACFC.“The on-field visibility and alignment for supporting women's sports and female athletes in all that Gatorade does makes them an incredible partner for Angel City.”
“We’re looking forward to fueling Angel City on and off the pitch and working with the club to drive meaningful change in sport,” said Jeff Kearney, global head of sports marketing for Gatorade. “We’re not only partnering with what is sure to be a world-class soccer club, but one that will be part of its community, serving area youth and ushering in a new era of women’s sports in Los Angeles. The model, built by their founding members, including some of our longstanding athlete partners and other leaders, could pave the way for how professional teams are built in the future.”
Our fans and community can also look forward to a new content series to engage with both ACFC and Gatorade. From clubhouse discussions to Instagram Live sessions, we’re determined to help engage and inspire the next generation of women to strive for greatness beyond the boundaries of today.
