Why does this heritage celebration start in the middle of a month? September 15th is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept 16 and Sept 18.
Hispanas Organized for Political Equality® (HOPE) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to ensuring political and economic parity for Latinas through leadership, advocacy, and education to benefit all communities and the status of women. Over the past 35 years, HOPE’s innovative leadership programming has served over 65,000 Latinas, offering them the skills, knowledge, confidence, and collective power to lead our communities. Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, our organization continues to lead the way.
In partnership with Salvies Who Lunch, “Pasion de Volcan: CentAm Q Voices of Resilience” is an explorative conversation with a dynamic group of Central Americans, discussing the profound impact of community, expression, and resilience. Each speaker shares personal insights on how their cultural backgrounds, identities, and experiences have built resilience in the face of systemic challenges, migration, and social inequality. The audience will be reminded that the passion for creativity and building community, fosters unity, and healing for future generations looking for connection and purpose.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) was founded in 1986. CHIRLA is a California leader with national impact made of diverse immigrant families and individuals who act as agents of social change to achieve a world with freedom of mobility, full human rights, and true participatory democracy. CHIRLA is the recipient of net proceeds for ACFC’s Immigrant City FC shirts.
The L.A. Street Vendor Solidarity Fund was spearheaded by Inclusive Action for the City, East L.A. Community Corporation, Public Counsel and Community Power Collective.
The premier U.S. celebration of Spanish-language literature and culture, LéaLA brings together renowned authors, cultural leaders and readers of all ages to celebrate the richness of Spanish-language literature. The 2025 edition promises engaging panels, performances and activities designed to inspire and connect the community through the power of reading.
