GIRLS PLAY LOS ANGELES

ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP

Girls Play Los Angeles (GPLA) is a City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks program that provides girls and gender expansive youth across Los Angeles access to low/no-cost sports in a recreation-based environment. Through this partnership, Angel City FC is dedicated to making the soccer programming for youth more accessible and enhancing the larger ecosystem around it.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

  • Recreational Leagues
    Available so any youth who want to play have access to an opportunity at their local recreation center. 100+ recreation centers impacting youth ages 5-17.
  • Leadership Academy
    At this level, there is an investment in both the sport skills and personal development of youth participants. There is a focus on developing the full athlete and not just their soccer skills. Programming is offered at 5 recreation sites for youth ages 13 - 17.
  • LA City United
    Competitive, club soccer that includes personal development. Impacts ages 11 - 14.
  • ACFC Clinics
    A half-day session that promotes a love of the game and offers communities equitable access to soccer.
  • ACFC Camps
    Multi-day, community focused sessions that are designed to provide high-quality soccer training for youth.
  • ACFC Coach Network
    Aims to build a pipeline of female and gender expansive individuals to enter the coaching space while removing barriers to education, licensing, and paid opportunities, that may exist. To learn more, click here.
