Midfielder Katie Zelem signed with Angel City FC in August, 2024, on free agency.

She most recently played for Manchester United, where she signed in the club’s inaugural season in 2018. As captain, she helped lead the team to promotion from the Championship to the Women’s Super League after their first season. In her six years with United, Zelem recorded 32 goals and 46 assists in 161 match appearances in all competitions. In 2023–2024, her final season with the Red Devils, the team won the FA Cup. Zelem also holds the all-time WSL record for assists off of set pieces.

Previously, the Failsworth, England native played one season with Juventus, winning Serie A in the team’s inaugural season, after spending her first two seasons as a pro with Liverpool and helping that team to two WSL titles.
Zelem represented England from the U-15 through U-23 levels, earning her first call up to the senior England team in 2021. She made two appearances in the 2023 World Cup where England were runners up.

Zelem spent her youth career at the Manchester United Girls’ Center of Exellence. She comes from a footballing family, with her father, Alan, and uncle, Peter, both having played professionally.
