International Notebook: Multiple ACFC Players Called in for Camps, Games
Five Angel City players—forward Claire Emslie, midfielder Amandine Henry, defender Megan Reid, midfielder Rocky Rodríguez, and defender Gisele Thompson—have been called in by their respective federations for national team duty. Thompson and Reid (who was called in for Canada, which she is eligible to play for through her Canadian mother) were called in to train with their national teams, while the others were named to rosters for upcoming games.
Emslie will play for Scotland in the Pinatar Cup, a four-team round-robin tournament taking place in Murcia, Spain. Scotland will play the Philippines on February 24, and either Slovenia or Finland on the 27th.
On February 23, Henry and Les Bleues will face Germany in the semifinal of the UEFA Nations League; depending on the result of that game and the other semifinal, they will play either Spain or the Netherlands on February 28, in either the final or third-place match.
Forward Casey Phair will represent South Korea in two friendlies, one against Czechia on February 24, and a second against Portugal on February 27.
Rodríguez joins Costa Rica for the CONCACAF W Gold Cup. Las Ticas will face Paraguay on February 22, El Salvador on February 25, and Canada on the 28th.
The official FIFA window is from February 19–28, but some players have already reported to camp; additionally, the Gold Cup will run from February 20–March 10. The quarterfinals of that tournament will be contested March 2 and 3 at BMO Stadium.
