Angel City takes on Racing Louisville FC tomorrow on the road at 5:00 p.m. PST. The match will stream live on Twitch; an English radio broadcast will air on iHeart.
On Tuesday, Angel City drew 0–0 against the Houston Dash at home. Despite the scoreline, ACFC dominated the match, outpacing Houston in shots on target, final third entries, and passes in the final third, and ending the match with a total xG of 1.49, compared with the Dash's .76. Houston keeper Jane Campbell made two huge saves in quick succession in the 69th minute, first blocking a close-range shot by forward Jun Endo, then another by forward Christen Press when she scooped up the rebounded ball.
The match was Angel City's first draw of the season, bringing their record to 3–3–1. The team currently sits in fifth place.
Racing Louisville FC are in ninth place with a 2–3–2 record. Their most recent result was a 0–3 loss at home to the North Carolina Courage last weekend, with goals scored by Kaleigh Kurtz, Diana Ordoñez, and Debinha.
Louisville are the NWSL's third-youngest team, having entered the league in 2021. Angel City midfielder Savannah McCaskill was a key player for Racing last year, playing every position in midfield and taking on a leadership role on a young squad. The club has a new head coach this year, the Swedish Kim Björkegren, and has added some new blood in former North Carolina star Jess McDonald and rookie Savannah DeMelo.
DeMelo has been a standout this season, earning a spot in the league Best XI for May. As a box-to-box midfielder, she's been an asset on both sides of the ball: in the team's most recent win, against Gotham on May 22, she led her team in both chances created and tackles.
Outside back Emily Fox, who was a rookie for Louisville last year, has been another bright spot, both as a defender and on offense. Against Gotham, she forced a turnover and completed a pass to begin the sequence that led to Racing's game-winner.
Saturday's match will be the last in a hectic stretch where Angel City played three games in eight days, two of them on the road.
