Angel City are on the road Friday, August 19, at 5:00 p.m. PST against the Kansas City Current. The match will stream live on CBS Sports Network, and an English-language radio broadcast will air on iHeart.

ACFC last played August 14, a 1–0 home win against the Chicago Red Stars. Midfielder Savannah McCaskill scored in the 48th minute, making a well-timed run to redirect a cross by forward Claire Emslie into goal at short range. The win marked a three-game undefeated streak in all competitions (including the team's 1–0 win in their friendly against Tigres UANL).

With a 6–5–3 record, LA remain in seventh place, two points behind Chicago in sixth and three points behind the fifth-place Reign. The top six teams at the end of the season advance to the playoffs. Angel City currently have at least one game in hand over all of the top six teams.

Kansas City are in fourth place with a 7–4–4 record. They last played at North Carolina on August 13, a 4–3 win. The match was a back-and-forth affair that saw the teams trade goals up until the 79th minute, when KC midfielder Claire Lavogez put away an eye-popping long-range strike which would prove to be the game winner. Forward Kristen Hamilton, midfielder Lo'eau LaBonta, and forward CeCe Kizer notched the Current's other three goals, with Diana Ordoñez, Debinha, and Kaleigh Kurtz getting on the board for the Courage.

Friday's match will be ACFC's second meeting with the Current. They won the first contest 1–0, a May 21 game in LA. Kansas City went without a win for the first five games of the season—including their loss to Angel City—but have reversed that trend and are now on a ten-game undefeated streak.

KC's leading scorers are Hamilton and Kizer, who each have five on the season. LaBonta has four goals and four assists; the latter statistic places her in a four-way tie for most assists in the league.

For Angel City, Friday's game marks the first in a five-game road stretch (not counting the Copa Angelina, a September 5 friendly against the Mexico Women's National Team). LA's next home NWSL game will not be until September 21.
