Angel City Football Club and Cedars-Sinai, ACFC’s official health partner, today announced an extension of their sponsorship of the club by formally partnering to support Copa Angelina, the new annual competition developed by ACFC, Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF), and Soccer United Marketing (SUM). ACFC will host the Mexican Women’s National Team in the inaugural Copa Angelinaat Banc of California Stadium in downtown Los Angeles on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. local time.

Copa Angelina celebrates a mutual love of soccer, bringing together the storied history of the FMF and the path ACFC is forging for women in sports. The event will highlight the rich Mexican culture in Los Angeles through entertainment, community outreach, and the annual competition on the pitch.

Cedars-Sinai aligns with ACFC’s vision of making an impact on and off the field and is committed to empowering women, families and youth to put their health first. This includes supporting healthy living by expanding access to sport. Cedars-Sinai saw the new ACFC alignment opportunity when presented with the idea of Copa Angelina, pledging to bring world-class care to patients wherever they may be, in their many locations across Los Angeles and through their partnerships in Mexico City and beyond.

Since the partnership was announced in August 2021, the healthcare provider has already made a significant impact through activating the Angel City sponsorship model, where 10% of each sponsorship is reallocated to the community in LA in multiple ways. Together with ACFC, Cedars-Sinai forged a partnership with the Play Equity Fund. Through the arrangement, they host weekly Football For Her’s Footy Fridays, Girls Leadership Academy’s sports program, and the Girls Play LA’s soccer program for girls and non-binary youth.
