Today, Angel City announced the hiring of Becki Tweed as the club’s new assistant coach. Tweed comes to ACFC from NJ/NY Gotham FC, where she served as their assistant coach for the past three seasons.

“I am so excited to be a part of the Angel City technical staff as the club heads into its second season,” said Tweed. “I am fortunate enough to have been a coach in the NWSL for the past several years and I can’t wait to start this new chapter of my career with Angel City. I am excited to engage with the LA community and be a part of an incredibly ambitious club on and off the field.”

“We are delighted to welcome Becki to the ACFC coaching staff,” stated ACFC Head Coach Freya Coombe. “She has many years of experience in the league, a great football mind and is passionate about player development. She is a talented coach that brings experience from the US Youth Women’s National Teams, most recently at the U20 World Cup. She is a fantastic person and will be an excellent addition to our environment.”

During Tweed’s time with Gotham FC, she helped lead the club to a 2021 playoff appearance, as well as the 2021 Challenge Cup Final. In 2020, she helped lead Gotham to the Challenge Cup Semi-Final. She was also co-head coach of the Gotham FC Reserves team that won the 2021 WPSL Championship. The team included five players now on NWSL rosters. For her efforts, Tweed was honored as WPSL Coach of the Year.

In 2022, Tweed served as an assistant coach for the United States in the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup in Costa Rica and when the U.S. team won the championship of the Sud Ladies Cup in France. In addition to her work with Gotham FC and for U.S. Soccer, Tweed spent several years developing players throughout the New Jersey area. She also worked as an assistant coach for Monmouth University’s women’s soccer program, helping guide the team to a conference championship.

Prior to coaching, Tweed played professionally for six years in the English Premier League for Bristol City and Millwall Lionesses, and also represented England in international competition at the youth level.
