LOS ANGELES (January 7, 2026) - Angel City Football Club (ACFC) announced today that the club has signed University of Louisville defender Karsyn Cherry to a three-year contract.
Cherry joins ACFC after a four-year career at Louisville, where she compiled 69 appearances, 68 starts, 12 goals, and 5,610 minutes. She made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2022, scoring her first collegiate goal in her first career start and adding two more that season.

“Karsyn is an important addition to our backline bringing qualities that we have admired as we followed her collegiate career,” said ACFC Sporting Director Mark Parsons. “Karsyn is a ball-playing defender with a great range of passing as well as an ability to dictate play. Defensively, Karsyn is relentless in dominating duels, defending her box and defending 1v1. Player development is a key part of Angel City, and we are excited to bring another exciting young talent to our club.”
Her collegiate progression included 17 starts in 2023, a team-leading six goals in 2024, and a senior season in 2025 highlighted by 19 starts and three goals to close out her Cardinals career. She was also captain of the team her junior year. During her final season, Cherry was named to second team All-American and helped take the Cardinals to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2019 and the ACC tournament for the first time since 2020.
A native of Lafayette, Ind., Cherry served as team captain during the 2025 season, where she led her team to a history-making undefeated at home season. She also earned Second Team All-ACC honors for her senior-year performance and was recognized as a CSC Academic All-District honoree during her collegiate career.
