JackFruit Cafe in West Los Angeles is the hub for all things vegan soul food. Made with 100% plant-based ingredients, the cafe puts a modern twist on jackfruit through unique flavor combinations. Before moving her space to the Colony, owner Angela Means Kaaya was doing it all — taking orders, serving tables, and cooking up the food at her Jefferson Park location. Now, her space (and customers) have evolved with Angelenos hungry for jackfruit burritos, BBQ sliders, and the popular JackFruit Bowl. Although this next spot is a bit south of Los Angeles, we couldn’t resist sharing the “best vegan tamales” around! Located at the 4th Street Market in Santa Ana, La Vegana Mexicana is a vegan and traditional Mexican food concept that started as a local pop-up in 2017. Owner & chef Loreta Ruiz, however, has been perfecting her recipes since 2014. All items are made from scratch daily with the menu offering dishes like tamales, tacos, pambazo, and a variety of desserts. When eating at La Vegana Mexicana, you can expect the best of Mexican cuisine (with a plant-based twist) without compromising taste or tradition.

Family-run, female-owned, and plant-based. Blazin’ Burgers in Burbank is a small drive-thru and dine-in restaurant that serves dishes both meat-eaters and vegans can enjoy! Their 100% plant-based menu boasts a variety of burgers, fried chicken dishes, animal-style fries, and creamy milkshakes. Some crowd favorites include the Nashville Style Crispy Fried Chik'n Sandwich & the Bacon 'N Ranch Chee Burger. For Karmazyn and her family, Blazin’ Burgers is truly a passion project that has allowed them to bring quality food to the community for all to enjoy.

Similar to La Vegana Mexicana, Pura Vita boasts traditional dishes without compromise. Owned by Tara Punzone, Pura Vita is regarded as the first 100% Plant-Based Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar in the United States. Their menu features dishes such as Cauliflower Chickpea Parmigiana, Baked Alfredo, Margherita Pizza, and Tiramisu. With flavors inspired by South Italy and the ambiance of a New York City wine bar, Punzone has created one of the best vegan restaurants in town. In addition to their flagship in West Hollywood, you can find Pura Vita at their all-vegan pizzeria (located next door) and in Redondo Beach!

Locali’s gourmet deli caters to both vegans and omnivores alike offering vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten-free substitutions for almost all of their sandwiches. If you’ve been here before, however, you’ll also know that their breakfast items are a must! Specifically, The Brekkie Burrito, which has been dubbed one of LA’s best.
