Angel City takes on the Houston Dash at Banc of California Stadium on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The match, which is ACFC's Pride game, will be streamed live on Paramount+. An English-language radio broadcast will air on iHeart.
Last Friday, Angel City lost 0–3 to the Portland Thorns at Providence Park, following a goal by defender Kelli Hubly and a brace by forward Christine Sinclair, bringing their regular-season record to 3–3–0.. Despite the score, LA displayed a persistent attack and had several near misses, including close-range headers by both forward Christen Press and midfielder Cari Roccaro that went just high and hit the crossbar, respectively. Keeper DiDi Haračić also continued her strong form with several outstanding saves.
The Dash, meanwhile, are 3–1–2 and are coming off a comprehensive 5–0 win at home against the Orlando Pride. Forward Nichelle Prince scored a hat trick, with the other two goals coming from forward Rachel Daly and defender Michelle Alozie. Houston possessed the ball just 41.9% of the time and attempted more than 100 fewer passes than Orlando; their success came thanks to strong defending, an effective press, and quality attacks in transition.
Prince was a standout in the game. Not only was her dribbling and finishing and excellent, but her clever movement around the Pride's back line helped open up space in dangerous areas. Midfielder María Sánchez was another key in that game. Her assist on Daly's goal—one of two chances she created—was a pinpoint-accurate ball from deep that intersected perfectly with the forward's run into the box.
Sánchez, an Idaho native, came to Houston following stints with Chivas and Tigres UANL in Liga MX Femenil. She played for the Mexico national team at the 2015 World Cup when she was just 19 years old.
Daly, who also shone against Orlando, will be unavailable on Tuesday due to international duty with England.
