Matchup

Angel City’s last regular-season game was a 0–0 draw on the road at Utah Royals.

Orlando’s last match was also a 0–0 draw, against league leaders Kansas City Current on the road.

ACFC last played Orlando on April 25 of this year, losing 3–2 on the road. They are 1–4–2 (W–L–D) all-time against the Pride.

Angel City are currently in 12th place with a 4–7–5 record. Orlando are in third at 8–4–4.

Scouting Report

After going 8–4–1 over the first half of the season, the reigning champions have stumbled since the summer break, earning three draws in a row—two at home—against Utah, Louisville, and Kansas City.

Although the Pride have the second-best defense in the league after the first-place Current, the high-powered offense that helped win them the championship in 2024 has slowed down somewhat. Last season, they finished with 46 goals, averaging about 1.77 per game; this year, they have 22 in 16 matches, for 1.375 per game.

A look at the stat sheet shows what part of the difference is: while superstar Barbra Banda has eight goals on the season, putting her on track to equal her 2024 record of 13 (though her goals per game will be lower in 2025 no matter what, as she joined partway through the 2024 season), her teammates are lagging somewhat behind their 2024 pace. In particular, Marta, who scored nine last season, has just three so far this year. Forward Adriana, who scored six last year, left the club in the offseason.

That slower production is starting to drag Orlando down in the standings, as San Diego passed them last weekend following their 2–1 win against Bay FC.

Debut Between the Pipes

Last week against Utah, with Angelina Anderson injured, Hannah Seabert got her first regular-season appearance in goal, keeping a clean sheet as the team earned a point on the road.

Seabert joined the club in July following a transfer from Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting CP), where she had been serving as team captain. After signing with Sporting CP in 2022, she helped lead the team to 2022 Portugal Cup and 2024 Portugal Super Cup wins, and won the league’s goalkeeper of the year award three times.

A Riverside native, Seabert played her college ball at Pepperdine, earning a program-record 331 career saves, a .813 save percentage, and 28 shutouts in 82 appearances.

After finishing college in 2017, she had a stint as a trialist with the Orlando Pride, but ultimately didn’t make any appearances for the Florida team. She then opted to sign with Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark, where she spent two seasons before making the move to Vålerenga in Norway.
