Angel City defender Ali Riley started two matches for the Football Ferns against the USWNT, one on Tuesday, January 17 in Wellington, and the second on Friday, January 20 in Auckland.

In the first match, a 0–4 loss, Riley played 61 minutes, subbing off for Elizabeth Anton. In Friday's game, she was replaced by Mackenzie Barry in the 69th minute. She served as captain for both matches. She also played center back in both games, a shift from her usual role as a wide defender.

Riley, a Los Angeles native who attended Harvard-Westlake, is eligible to represent New Zealand through her Kiwi father.
