Angel City Football Club (ACFC) today announced DoorDash, the nation’s leading last-mile logistics platform, as the team’s founding front-of-kit sponsor and exclusive on-demand delivery platform partner, marking the company’s first entry into professional soccer.
As the team’s exclusive front-of-kit sponsor, the DoorDash primary logo will grace the mid-center position of ACFC’s official kits and merchandise including home and away jerseys, stadium, rain, and travel clothing, all authentic and replica first-team jerseys available to consumers, and any special edition first-team jerseys. The team colors, crest, kit, and logoed-merchandise will be revealed in Summer 2021.
DoorDash and ACFC are committed to making an impact both on and off-the-field. Through the Angel City Sponsorship Model, in which ACFC collaborates with its partners to re-allocate a portion of the value of their sponsorship to local causes, the two will work together to address food insecurity in Los Angeles. In fact, in the first year of their multi-year partnership, ACFC and DoorDash have committed to bringing an estimated 250,000 meals to those in need.
To do so, ACFC and DoorDash have partnered with CARE in their first year to identify local organizations that serve areas of LA in which the critical need for food outpaces the bandwidth of volunteers and staff distributing it. Through the CARE Package Relief program, which provides food and services while putting people back to work with paid on-demand jobs, and Project DASH, DoorDash’s flagship social impact initiative focused on bringing logistics expertise to nonprofit and government agencies, food will be collected, packaged, and brought directly via DoorDash to people in need.
“Today marks a major milestone in the evolution of Angel City Football Club as we welcome DoorDash as our founding front-of-kit partner,” said Julie Uhrman, Co-Founder and President of
Angel City FC. “DoorDash aligns with our mission to make a positive impact across Los Angeles and beyond. We are so moved to see them immediately mobilize our partnership by helping get meals to those across Los Angeles who may otherwise go without. This is just the beginning and I look forward to the impact we will make together in the years to come.”
“I’ve always loved the ability of sports to connect communities and make a positive impact. We are so proud to be the official sponsor of Angel City FC, a team that is working to build something truly powerful for female athletes globally,” Said Tony Xu, DoorDash CEO and Co-founder. “In addition to creating the ultimate fan experience, this partnership will uniquely merge food, sport, and culture as we work together to give back to the Los Angeles community we serve and level the playing field for all.”
DoorDash also launched today its “Be an Angel” initiative, inviting LA customers to join the brand in uplifting their community and channeling their hometown pride to transform the city. As part of the initiative, on launch day, February 18, DoorDash will donate $5 per order placed on the DoorDash platform from a list of participating local women-owned and led restaurants, up to a total of $15,000, to CARE.* Customers can find the list of participating local women-owned and led restaurants in the DoorDash app. This donation will be reinvested directly into CARE’s program to support Los Angeles food-serving organizations in distributing food to communities in need.
Over the course of their partnership, DoorDash and ACFC will continue to collaborate meaningfully to improve food-access for Los Angeles residents, while bringing unique authentic experiences to fans and food-lovers in the coming seasons.
*Terms and Conditions: For every order placed on February 18, 2021 on the DoorDash platform from participating local woman-owned restaurants, DoorDash will donate $5, up to a maximum of $15,000, to CARE.
