LOS ANGELES (December 2, 2025) - Angel City Football Club (ACFC) announced today that the club has extended midfielder Nealy Martin’s contract through the end of the 2027 season. This is a one-year extension on her previous contract.
Martin, who was acquired via trade from NJ/NY Gotham FC on September 9, 2025, made an immediate impact in the final stretch of ACFC’s season. She started all six remaining matches, playing the full 90 minutes in each, and recorded one assist against Chicago Stars on November 2, 2025.
“My short time in LA has made me even more excited for the future of this club. I see the vision that Alex [Straus] and this team have, and I’m fully bought into it,” said Martin. “I can't wait to execute that vision to the best of my ability, for this city and for our supporters. I’m excited to continue what we’ve built during my time here, and I can’t wait to do it with the best team.”
Martin has established herself as an adaptable midfielder since entering the NWSL in 2021, a versatility she has continued to demonstrate at ACFC by contributing not only in the midfield but also in defensive roles.
Before taking the pitch for ACFC, Martin began her NWSL career with Racing Louisville during the club’s inaugural season and went on to play three seasons with NJ/NY Gotham FC. She made history by becoming the first field player to step in as goalkeeper during an NWSL playoff match, helping Gotham capture the 2023 NWSL Championship.
Martin was a standout at the University of Alabama from 2016 to 2019, serving as team captain her junior and senior seasons and appearing in 76 matches. In January 2025, she earned her first call-up to the U.S. Women’s National Team, further underscoring her upward trajectory.
