The Soccer Tournament, the $1 million, winner-take-all, 7v7 world championship, today announced the group pairing and schedule for Angel City 7s, an entry from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Angel City FC, as part of its official women’s field reveal for the event in Cary, N.C. June 5–9.
Angel City 7s are coached by World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist Saskia Webber. Shawna Palmer, a former NWSL player and the founder of Football for Her, an LA-based nonprofit providing free soccer to girls and nonbinary youth, serves as assistant coach. The roster includes former Angel City goalkeeper Brittany Wilson, USC alum and Philippines Women’s National Team forward Dominique Randle, and former UCLA and current Durham WFC forward Kaila Novak.
The TST’s 16-team women’s field is split into four groups of four teams. Angel City 7s will headline Group A, which also includes Austin Rise FC, Process FC, and US Women.
Angel City 7s will begin group play against Process FC at 6:15 p.m. EST. on Thursday, June 5. Their second group-stage game will take place at 10:15 a.m. EST. on Friday, June 6 against Austin Rise FC. Later that day, their final group-stage match will be against US Women at 6:30 p.m. EST televised on ESPNU/ESPN+. Angel City FC’s first two group-stage games will also be available for streaming on TST’s YouTube channel.
The top two teams from each women’s group will advance to the quarterfinals on the evening of Saturday, June 7. Semifinals will take place Sunday, June 8, with the $1 million championship game at 7:00 p.m. EST on Monday, June 9 on ESPNU.
The US Women will be playing in TST for the third time, after debuting as the only all-women team in 2023. Their roster will see the return of 2015 World Cup winners Heather O’Reilly and Ali Kreiger, and the TST debut of two-time World Cup winner and two-time Olympic gold medalist Carli Lloyd. Austin Rise FC is an entirely women-owned semi-professional team in Austin, Texas, playing in the WPSL. Process FC is made up of experienced professionals, rising stars, and undiscovered talent, looking to walk away with the $1 million dollar prize.
TST’s 16-team women’s field includes entries from two other NWSL teams: the NC Courage and Kansas City Current II.
