ACFC and Melissa’s Unite to Deliver Clean Snax® and Fresh Produce to Los Angeles Community
For many disadvantaged families throughout Los Angeles, the options for affordable, healthy snacks are limited. Most packaged commercial snack goods leave critical nutrition gaps in items full of preservatives and processed sugars. Angel City Football Club (ACFC) remains committed to helping underserved communities access nourishing essentials to support healthy lifestyles. A firm foundation in nutrition can help lead to improved health outcomes for children and their families and encourage physical activity.
That’s why the latest ACFC team sponsorship from Melissa’s Produce is so important. Melissa’s, a leading specialty produce distributor, is working with ACFC to put 10% of their sponsorship funds toward feeding those in need with fresh produce and healthier packaged snack options. Melissa’s has a proven track record of collaborating with sporting franchises and venues to bring fresh and nutritious food options to both fans and the communities from which they come. This passion for giving back pairs wonderfully with ACFC’s mission to help underserved populations in LA with access to educational, essential, and recreational resources that promote wellness.
Melissa’s joins the ranks of other ACFC sponsors dedicated to making a charitable impact, including efforts specifically targeting food access. To this end, Melissa’s will distribute fresh fruit throughout the year at ACFC clinics, soccer camps, and events. As a result, kids can snack during their activities, learn about healthy food choices, and take home extra food items to help their families.
In addition to produce, Melissa’s is including donations of their own Clean Snax®, which offer a healthier alternative to processed and packaged goods on the market today. These gluten-free options are made with nutrient-rich ingredients like chia and flax seeds in flavors that taste great, even to kids. Existing varieties will be included in bundles with fruits and vegetables to address food shortages that impact far too many LA families.
Taking healthy snacking a step further, a unique and co-branded Clean Snax® is in the works from Melissa’s and ACFC. The snack will give Melissa’s customers and ACFC fans an opportunity to help make a tangible impact on fighting hunger together. Proceeds from sales through Melissa’s and other select grocers will be put toward ACFC community give-back programs to fund future efforts.
